The first of two volumes which present the legal documents of the diocese of Salisbury. A lengthy introduction provides a historical background to the diocese and biographies of its bishops, including Jocelin de Bohun who dominated Salisbury during the 12th century. The Acta themselves are preceded by a discussion of their forms and content as well as a comprehensive list of sources. The Acta are presented in English with copious notes.
