McAllister was born at St Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is six feet tall and weighs 188 pounds with dark brown hair, hazel eyes and glasses. He spent two years as a member of the US Army Signal Corps, where he learned skills of an electronics technician. After his discharge from the army, he attended the University of Colorado and earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, he also holds an FCC 1st Class Radiotelephone License. For a brief period, he worked as an entry level engineer at a local Colorado Springs radio station. For the next three years, he worked as a technician in the communications and electronics shop as a radio repairman in Fort Carson, Colorado. He completed his BA in Business at Wichita State University by going to night and weekend classes while holding down a full-time job. He lived for several years in Wichita, Kansas and Kansas City and traveled to many other places across the country. He has written many of his and his friend's unusual experiences over the years. He has one brother, Sean and one sister, Doreen. His Dad, Charles, retired as a CW4 after 20 years. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until he died.
