Military Aircraft Flown by Canadians Canadians have done a good job in their efforts to preserve their aviation heritage. This handbook provides a simple checklist of where the surviving military aircraft that served with the Canadian Forces or were operated by them, are located now. Aircraft significant to Canada’s history are regularly being recovered from their crash sites in the bush, or in some cases, being manufactured from scratch. (There is a WWII Lockheed Hudson that the Greenwood Air Museum is trying to recover from a nearby lake, for example, and a Vickers Vedette is being built from scratch by the WCAM in Winnipeg). There are still an incredible number of warbirds from Canada’s aviation heritage for which no single example exists anywhere in the world, and still more for which none exist in Canada. One of the uses of this book is to identify where one can at least view an example of the types listed, even if they aren’t to be found in Canada. The book lists the aircraft alphabetically by manufacturer, number and type. This list is also appended with a list of the current aircraft found in most of the larger collections and Museums in Canada.
