Chandler graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1974 and is married with two children. Although O'Toole's Orchard is obviously a light-hearted fantasy intended to entertain and be gently thought provoking, the story does reflect the author's very real struggle as a youth to resolve the conflicting ideologies of Christianity and Evolution. The outlook on life shared by the gnome near the end of the story represents a point of view also embraced by the writer. Chandler shares a deeper and more complex concept of the universe in the pamphlet entitled Cosmic Common Sense: a portrait of Einstein's universe and his God, which can be obtained by contacting the author at CHANDLERMC@aol.com
