The book's goal is to: assess the current status of diversity in the scientific community; gather ideas on how to improve diversity in science; document personal stories and perspectives relating to diversity; and make the information available to the public and to a broad spectrum of scientists, including chemists and chemical engineers. A goal is to increase awareness of the importance of diversity, the immediate need for change, and the changes which are possible and most practical to achieve the desired results.
