Facilitate Better Groups Faster! The 22 archetypes examined in Facilitating Fathers' Groups guide you through the maze of successfully leading a dynamic group experience. Facilitators of any type of group will benefit from using the archetypal approach outlined in this book. The focus of the text, however, is on facilitating fathers' groups so more men are inspired to actively parent and the pain from father absence is diminished. Facilitating Fathers' Groups helps you create fun, learning environments that empower participants to make the positive change that they desire in their lives. Fathers' groups are especially crucial to support men in the many communities where father absence is epidemic. The time has come for men to gather and inspire one another to become more involved, loving fathers. This book shows you how to make that happen!About the Author: Haji Shearer is Director of the Fatherhood Initiative at the Massachusetts' Children's Trust. He leads the campaign to increase father involvement and cooperative parenting in 25 Healthy Families programs across the state and to strengthen the statewide Fathers and Families Network (FFN). The FFN provides ongoing training to support practitioners who work with fathers and families. Haji founded the fathers' program at the Family Nurturing Center in Dorchester that continues to serve men in Boston's urban communities. Earlier in his career, he spent six years providing crisis intervention services to families involved with the child welfare system. Haji is a Licensed Social Worker who frequently presents at conferences and publishes articles on father involvement, male intimacy and co-parenting. His first book, Facilitating Fathers' Groups: 22 Keys to Group Mastery, will be published in 2014. Haji facilitates Men's Healing Circles, Boys to Men Rites of Passage and Couples Workshops. He is especially interested in seeing African-American and Latino men heal from the twin traumas of racism and patriarchy. Haji and his wife, artist Radiant Jasmin, enjoy spending time with their two adult children. According to the Boston Globe, Haji "is a phenomenally engaging man."
