About the Author: John Kyes has pursued painting since taking art classes early in life, primarily teaching himself how to capture detail, mood and light by studying the work of other Western artists. After serving in the Korean War, Kyes moved from California to Montana in the mid-1950s to become a small-time rancher. Living in an off-the-grid cabin near Libby, he spent countless hours traipsing through the wilderness hunting with gun and camera, absorbing the quietude of the landscape for later translation into his works of art. Enjoying life as a great-grandfather, Kyes now lives in Lakeside, Montana on Flathead Lake with his wife Eve.
