Finding and cultivating friendships is not an easy task to accomplish, especially for children. This story stresses the importance of wanting "the right kind" of friend and not just anything that comes along. Along the road to finding "the right kind" children will encounter all kinds of people who teach them what they don't want in a friend, but sometimes it might be painful. In the end they learn that asking and waiting patiently for an answer is a good thing to do. But in this story it took many painful wrong choices before finding out that the right thing was right in its midst all the time. The most important thing is that the great friends that were being looked for were really there and waiting!
