Her background is in business, human resources, municipal government and social services. She has a master's degree in education, and her bachelor's degree is in business. She received her national accreditation in human resources. She has owned her own business since 1985 and has worked in the private sector as an employee and an employer and in the public sector as an employee and elected official. She begins with her journey from both a woman's and an older worker's perspective. Employment and a desire to continue her education were the two saving graces that always provided her with opportunities to catapult into a forty-five year work history. Her faith and a higher power carried her life the rest of the way.
