When General Grant Westerly of the defeated Confederate Army arrives home he finds his parents murdered and his house a ruin. Only Joseph remains, to tell him about the terrible slaughter that had occurred at the hands of five deserters from the Union forces. When Grant and Joseph pursue the vengeance trail, heading south and then north through Indian country, hardship and danger are their constant companions. Only their determination and fighting skills can bring the murderers to justice.
