Just as two chemicals in a solution suddenly become more than they were with the addition of a catalytic substance, organizations can become more than they were with the addition of Leadership Catalysts-people who create, develop, or inspire improved leadership behavior and performance in others. By being mindful, connected, intentional, generative, and heretical, Leadership Catalysts become force multipliers and help create Leadership in Depth in their organizations-contributing more powerfully to their organization's success. Lao Tsu, a 6th century B.C. Chinese sage and author of Tao Te Ching captures the essence of being a leadership catalyst in the following passage: With the best of leaders, When the work is done, The project completed, The people all say, "We did it ourselves."About the Author: Born in Paris, France. Raised in Eagle River, Alaska. Kevin has been a student of leadership development since 1979. Starting out as a Navy JROTC cadet in high school, he went on to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy and serve 11 years as a naval officer. He served at sea on an ammunition cargo ship, a guided missile cruiser, and as part of the Commodore's staff of an amphibious assault battle group, conducting multi-national expeditionary exercises in the Mediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf. Kevin also served as Assistant Chairman of the Naval Academy's Department of Leadership, Ethics, and Law and taught leadership and ethics courses, where he found his calling for facilitating leadership development and behavior change processes. As a civilian, Kevin has helped create and manage leadership and professional development programs in a technology start-up, as well as a division of PBS. He recently completed his Master's Degree in Organizational Dynamics at the University of Pennsylvania where he developed his leadership development model, "The Leadership Catalyst." Leadership Catalysts are leaders who create, develop, or otherwise inspire better performance and leadership in others. The model is based on lessons from neuroscience, cognitive psychology, ontology, and even quantum physics and the developmental process is one that creates deep learning and positive behavior change for people. Using this model as a guide, Kevin helps organizations create Leadership in Depth and develop more engaged and productive employees for improved bottom-line results. Kevin and his wife, Christine Bath-Zachery, who is also a Naval Academy graduate, started Bravo Zulu Consulting LLC in 2006 to help organizations become more successful through communications, leadership, and organizational development. In the military, Bravo Zulu is signal code for "Well Done," and Bravo Zulu's mission is to help people be able to look back on their lives and say to themselves, "Well done!"
