Previously, Daine's sister was disabled by the affliction known as Havoc. Now his best friend has been killed by his own blade in a Havoc-provoked fight. Daine is incapacitated by overwhelming guilt for both these tragedies. The promise of access to Brotherhood historical records may be his only chance to solve the mysteries of Havoc and absolve his guilt. But he must first, overcome his emotional paralysis and regain some self-control.The Brotherhood is the only organization keeping Havoc from destroying civilization, but it has its own problems. Several regional leaders are threatening to rebel against general officers and are proposing extreme measures to deal with the Havoc dilemma. If Daine can conquer his personal demons, he may encounter even greater ones as the specter of civil war rises over The Land.About the Author: Keith G. Seegmiller was raised in a small western town downwind of the Nevada nuclear test range. He has a degree in accounting but chose to join the U.S. Marine Corps after graduation. He served three years as a Marine Corps officer and then 30 years working as an accountant and business manager. Until the late 1980's, his writing was limited to business communications and social, religious and political essays. His first attempt at fiction was a short novella which won an award in a state writer's league contest. He began his first novel in 1992 and wrote short installments as family duties and 60-70 hour work weeks allowed. Ten years and 17 chapters later, semi-retirement allowed him additional time to complete the first two volumes. In his spare time, Mr. Seegmiller enjoys reading, writing, strategic board games, gardening, cooking and traveling. He has some additional story ideas waiting in the wings, most of which were derived from Tylenol-induced dreams. He hopes to complete another novel or two before being a down-winder catches up with him.
