Our hero Tiny, like many of us, is caught between the carefree days of being young and the responsibilities and dangers of being an adult.About the Author: Having never grown up, I have always wanted to write children's books. I actually wrote "Tiny Mouse and the Big Spiders" years ago and even submitted it to a publisher. I did receive an offer to publish it, but at the time I was not really sure what I would do with the book and the characters. I felt then as I do now, that it's a great story with a really exciting premise and would be as much fun to read as it was to write. I still remember how badly I wanted to learn to read. Once I did, I read everything I could get my hands on, encyclopedias, magazines and books. I had very good parents who were big readers as I grew up so my family would often make trips to the public library. My parents encouraged my hunger for knowledge and I would have to make two trips to get all my books to the car, as there was no limit. To speak specifically of Tiny Mouse and the Big Spiders, it came from a desire to write a fictional book about an exciting character who lives in an interesting world that is all around us. Unseen and often unnoticed, small animals and insects live facinating and sometimes violent lives. I have always been amazed by that. It's always there if we only care (or dare) to look. Tiny Mouse, of course, is a young man (mouse) who gets to take a closer look at that world than I ever could. Although I cast spiders as villains, I have been amazed with them all my life. My family had one species of tarantula in a large terrarium as a pet while our children were growing up. Well cared for, it lived out it's natural lifespan with us. It brought a little mystery and exotic flair to a normal family home. I hope everyone who reads "Tiny Mouse and the Big Spiders" will share my affection for the secret world of small living things.
