Finger on the Trigger is a short funny story borne out of caution against climate change and bad governance Everyone is frustrated: the bureaucrats, the journalists (the author's mouthpiece) and Dagun, the okada-rider. Dagun gives an apt description of Igodo: "nothing is fabricated here. We buy and sell". Igodo becomes metaphor for unbridled consumerism and mental laziness of the elite; in a land whose productivity capacity and moral rectitude have reached heir nadir. What can we say, but lament the imminent collapse of Igodo! Even then, Degun and Kawo are used by the author to suggest that there is light at the end of the tunnel; if men and women of integrity are determined to serve their society selflessly, there is hope for societies that are hanging on the edge of precipice.About the Author: 'Niyi Fasanmi is the author of Barricades (2001), Against the Culture of Silence (2002) and a Pan-African Quest (2006).
