This is the story of villagers of the Rusyn village of Osturna by the Tatra Mountains. Looking for a better life, several of the Vascura family immigrated to America starting in 1897. The youngest daughter stayed behind and married a neighbor. Over the years these related families on both sides of the Atlantic found themselves involved in world events and changing borders.About the Author: Fred Wascura grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania and Chicago. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, he has lived in Florida for over 40 years.
