The Holocaust was an attempt to erase those considered undesirable by the Nazi state from history, and thus remembering the Holocaust is essential if the Nazis are to remain defeated. This book introduces those people who are trying to make the world remember the Holocaust and the lesson it has taught. Tokudome focuses on each person -- their background, accomplishments, beliefs and hopes -- rather than on the events surrounding their activities. In writing this book, she hopes that readers will understand the significance of the Holocaust in human history by getting to know the people who are keeping the memory alive.
