Brad Kelly thought his life was set. He had a handsome, sweet, younger lover, who brought with him a "ready-made" family. He and Ted were truly devoted to one another, and to their son, Jeremy. After the tragic loss of Brad's first lover, Randy, his new family had given him hope for a bright and happy future once again. But what is it they say about the best laid plans? Welcome to the third and final installment of A Different Kind of Family: The Trilogy. I have reworked my original story, dividing it into three free-standing books that address the different "eras" of Brad Kelly's life. The first two installments, The Awakening, and A New Beginning, were published earlier. This final installment, Love Matters, brings Brad Kelly's life to "the present time."You will notice that this installment is longer than the first two, because it covers what turns out to be a more complex period of Brad's life. You will find - along with Brad - some surprise twists, both happy and sad, as he moves through middle age and approaches his senior years. This part of Brad's life also sets up the premise for The Bears' Den series, which delve into the lives of a number of the peripheral characters introduced in these books.Brad Kelly finally gets the HEA ending that he deserves - just not quite the way he had expected. Happily, several of his loving and devoted family members get to share in his HEA ending as well. Because they all find that no matter what trials and tribulations they face in life, the most important thing to remember is that in the end, only love truly matters.K G (Ken) Follett has lived in Rockford, Illinois for over thirty years. He has worked in marketing, banking, nursing, and education during that time. He now lives with and is happily married to his partner of nearly twenty years, Brent. Follett started writing A Different Kind of Family in the mid-1990s when the term "family" was being hijacked by various socio-political groups to be used against LGBTQ+ and other alternative family structures. This series of books is his attempt to reclaim that term to be used legitimately for ANY kind of family in today's society, AND to shed light on what we could lose, if we do not remain vigilant in these tumultuous times.
