White fur seal pups... The white fur seal pup is called a Harp seal and it is found in ice packs, drifting ice shelves and like places throughout North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. White fur seals don't have external ears. Adult Harp seals are a faded gray color with black faces, and a harp like design of black color over the gray. White fur seal pups keep their soft fluffy white fur for about three weeks. Harp seal pups take over a year to gestate in their mother's womb, and are born near March in the late winter. White fur seal pups are born weighing 25 pounds or so, and are about 3 feet long. For the first two weeks they eat their mother's milk high in protein and fat, and gain about five pounds per day. Mother's then leave their pups alone for about six weeks, in which time they try to find food to sustain themselves, then return to their baby. Then the baby seal pups must find food for their selves.
