Johnson was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She obtained her Masters in Business Administration from California College for Heath Services in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a mother, registered nurse and advocate. In 2013, she founded the Chris "CJ" Johnson Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) 3 non-profit charity organization in honor of her son, Chris. She has experience in organizing fundraisers and raising awareness for Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC). The majority of her 46 years as a nurse was in Women's Health and Healthcare Leadership. As an advocate for RMC, she has been featured in the New York Times, Fort Bend Herald, Fort Bend/Southwest Star, has appeared on Fox 26 KRIV Houston, and in several neighborhood magazines. Ritchie resides in Sugar Land, Texas and because of her youngest son's death from RMC; she has dedicated her life to advocating for patients that have been diagnosed with RMC and offering support to them and their families.
