My niece is a family prodigy. She has been singing and dancing almost literally since she was born. We had joked in the past that her mother was one of those "stage mom‟s" who insisted on a certain regimen of performance because she wanted to someday see her kid in the movies. That really wasn't the case, though.Sara, my niece, was the driving force for her musical training. Her parents (and grandparents) simply provided the means and the transportation. She was always (and still is) a highly motivated and energetic girl with enormous dreams and talent to match.I started my search into understanding IBS and what that would mean to our family when I found out Sara had been ill for a number of months. It would come and go, but it seemed like every time I turned around my sister was emailing me about Sara having stomach or intestinal issues again.This went on for months, and being in a different town with my own life‟s issues swirling ever-present, I don‟t think I really paid attention to the toll this mystery was taking.It took a while for her parents to get a diagnosis, and even then they were left with more questions than answers.Being the thorough, meticulous people they are, they decided to get second opinions at many steps in the journey, and that left them frequently frustrated and disappointed.
