Holography is an exciting branch of the discipline of optics. Holography, likephotography, represents the total endeavour of recording and retrieving of the subjectinformation in the format of optical fields or wavefronts. Holography is a recent additionto the rich repertoire of optical techniques, which have been developed over years for theunderstanding of a subject in terms of its image. Admittedly we are choosing animperfect route to understand a subject, because an image obtained with an opticalinstrument always suffers from certain deficiencies in so far as its information content isconcerned. The optical phenomenon of interference and diffraction play crucial role inholography. It is precisely for this reason we will endeavour to built the edifice ofholography on the same foundation namely, Young's experiment.
