Poetry arrived as an unexpected gift to Patricia Gosling in middle age, and still her muse continues to visit. It was no surprise that poems began to erupt while she was immersed in the experience of psychotherapy, as part of her professional training. It is a process that reveals aspects of the personality previously unknown. Each poem epitomises a significant emotional moment in her private life, well hidden behind the professional facade. They are about the ordinary mundane business of living, about landscapes, people, love and loss - intensely personal but also universal. Growing up in Nottingham, then a medical student in London, she has since lived in Swansea and the West country. For twenty-five years she was in private practice as a psychoanalytical psychotherapist in the gaps between her primary roles as wife and mother. Writing poetry was an unexpected and very private activity acquired in middle age. Patricia has been a Member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for half a century.
