The Power of Taking, is a story set in modern times that portrays the life of a woman who has an extraordinary ability. Yvonne is a mid twenties woman born in the brothels in a small town in Russia, with the amazing ability to take the knowledge and emotions from anyone she touches. Her internal conflict is she has no emotions of her own. She uses her powers to escape a life of prostitution, and moved to Los Angeles. She struggles with identifying self, from others. She can remember everything, even her birth, and her life begins to spiral downward when she loses her only love Ron, and gains a friend for the first time in her life. She goes on an extraordinary adventure with her friend Zoey to find her true love after she betrays him. Then when using her power recklessly she touches a serial killer and begins to fall into his past. She loses the capability to store the knowledge and instead gets trapped in his fantasy world.
